The weather was good at the beginning of the tournament, but soon a strong wind started blowing. This made scoring very diffucult and all players had to settle for higher scores than they were used to. In the first round, 1997 Champion Tom H. Olesen kept his game together and shot 75 (+6) for the lead. He was chased by the runner-up in 1999 Rene Nielsen with 76 (+7). One of the favourites Gert Meeske had a first round of 81 (+12) and had a lot of catching up to do in the afternoon.

Tom Olesen continued his good form in the afternoon, though an 8 on the 16^th kept him from running away with tournament. He had another round of 75 and a total of 150. But the story of the afternoon was the challenge from Jonas Sörensson. He shot a tournament best 71 (+2) after 3-putting the 16^th and taking a double bogey 5 at the easy par-3 18. He now was two shots behind at 152. Rene Nielsen put together another steady round of 77 and was 3 behind at 153. Unfortunately the Match Committee had to disqualify Rene Nielsen and his two playing partners for a mistake they had comitted earlier in the tournament. A sad end for a very interesting day at the golf course. This gave Gert Meeske 3^rd place after a fine round of 74 and a total of 155.

Tom H. Olesen played together with Gert Meeske and Jonas Sörensson in the last group on Sunday. Though the player on the move this morning was Søren Holm Andersen with 36 on the front-9 trying to get back into contention having been 11 shots behind at the beginning of the day. Unfortynately for him Tom and Gert also played strongly in the windy conditions as Jonas seemed to fall behind. Gert eagled the 285 meter par-4 12^th hole to move within two shots of Tom. At the end of the round Tom shot 72 and Gert 71 giving them totals of 222 and 226. Jonas shot himselft out of the tournament with a 81 holding onto 3^rd place at 233. Søren Holm fell back at the last 9 holes of the round and shot 77 sharing 4^th place with 1999 Champion Erik Munk-Christensen at 238.

After lunch Jonas looked like he had found his swing and eased to 36 on the front-9. The real challenge though, came from Gert Meeske after an eagle 3 at the 470 meter par-5 9^th hole, his second eagle of the day!!! Unfortunately for him, his challenge more or less ended after 3-putting the 11^th and failing to get up-and-down for a birdie from the green-side bunker on the 12^th hole. Tom eased to a 6-shot lead and Gert was now in trouble on 14 dropping a shot after a bogey 5 and as Jonas holed out for a birdie from the bunker he was only two shots behind Gert. Tom almost brought back the exciment at the 16^th after a triple bogey 7! Though, he kept his nerves at the final two holes for another 75 and a total of 297. Gert came second on 300 and Jonas was third on 304. Afterwards Tom said:"I'm very happy and very proud of winning this tournament for the second time. I would like to take this moment and thank the people who have spent time arranging this match and also the spectators who was out there during the final round. It's always nice to play in front of a crowd and I know Gert and Jonas very much appreciated it as well".

The top-8 players will meet in a match play tournament in 3 weeks.
